Questions about Taskly?
The important bits about local task data, subtasks, optional features, Windows/Web pairing and Taskly Connect.
Tasks, subtasks and priorities.
Taskly is designed to keep quick task changes quick while still supporting deeper planning when you need it.
Can I create subtasks without a template?
Yes. New tasks can add blank subtasks directly. Templates are optional and simply prefill the same subtask list.
Can an existing task become a subtask?
Yes. Link an existing open task as a subtask. Its own priority, category, tags and other metadata stay with the task instead of being overwritten by the parent.
Can I move a subtask back to the main list?
Yes. Moving a subtask to the main task list removes its parent relationship without deleting its task data.
How do priorities and points work?
Taskly supports direct S-to-F priority levels with base points. Advanced Urgency Scoring is optional and can add more detailed scoring when enabled.
Focus and progress without forcing gamification.
The heavier planning systems are intentionally disabled by default so the normal task flow stays simple.
Where do I enable Focus Sessions?
On Android, open Settings and then Optional Features. Enable Focus Sessions there, and the focus controls become available in task details.
Are Achievements and XP mandatory?
No. Achievements & Progress is an optional feature and is disabled by default. Turning it off does not delete existing progress data.
Does disabling an optional feature delete its history?
No. Optional feature toggles hide and disable the related UI and calculations while keeping existing data available if you enable the feature again later.
Android, Windows and browser editing.
Taskly Connect is an optional multi-device layer rather than a requirement for using the Android app.
Do I need Taskly Connect to use Taskly?
No. The Android app remains usable locally. Taskly Connect is only for pairing Windows or Web and synchronizing between those devices.
Do I need to upload my phone manually after pairing?
No. Taskly Connect now creates the encrypted remote snapshot automatically when needed and keeps local changes synchronized in the background. Manual restore remains available only as a recovery option.
How does Windows pairing work?
Windows displays a QR code and fallback pairing code. Scan or enter it from Android, approve the device, and Taskly transfers the connection material through the short-lived pairing flow.
Can I remove an old paired PC or browser?
Yes. Taskly Connect now lists connected devices on Android, Windows and the paired browser workspace. Revoke devices you no longer use without changing your local Android tasks.
Does the Taskly API receive my plain task list?
Taskly Connect is designed around encrypted snapshots. Clients encrypt the snapshot before upload, while the permanent sync key remains with paired devices.
Start simple and add the rest when you need it.
Use Taskly locally on Android or connect Windows and Web when another screen improves the workflow.
